What Room 5 got out of Camp

Miss Clarke had Room 5 complete a Camp Review when they got back to class. She asked them a series of questions, everything from rating their experiences out of 5, rating their attitude and participation and then having them reflect on the best bits and challenging bits.

Here’s a sample of what they had to say.

I am most proud of myself for…

-believing in myself for everything.
-working as a team and believing in myself.
-completing the confidence course because it was very scary trying to do the two rope course.
-doing all of the obstacles in the bushes.
-working with my team because I don’t usually work with those people.
-going into the water because I don’t usually go into the water.
-trying my hardest in all activities.
-participating and helping other people.
-kayaking over waves without flipping.
-helping my friend when it came to a difficult time for them.
-kayaking through the channel without bumping into the rocks.
-trying my best in most games.
-kayaking and team building.
-leading my team to victory on team building.
-my first time kayaking and it was in the sea without my parents.
-making new friends and helping others.
-participating in all activities.
-doing everything I could to make it a good camp.

Something I learned about myself while I was on camp that I didn’t know before was….

-I can do anything as long as I keep trying.
-I can be strong and brave at the same time, if I just believe I can do it.
-I have good upper body strength because I climbed up the rope using just my hands.
-I was better at sports more than I thought.
-I’m pretty good at interacting.
-I worked with people I have never worked with before.
-I need to believe in myself.
-I’m more confident in the water.
-to always be happy and to ignore the people that are mean all the time.
-I am actually quite athletic.
-that I’m a really good kayaker.
-that I’m a good leader.
-I didn’t know how to do the planks.

Something that challenged me while I was at camp was….

-kayaking in deep water.
-the Plank Challenge because we had to start over and over.
-the snorkeling was difficult for me because whenever I went under the water all the water went up my mask.
-team building in the barrels and the tyres.
-the kayaking because my arms were sore from rowing and going through tight spaces was hard.
-walking up a really steep hill to the Rainbow Warrior.
-kayaking, because I have never been kayaking properly.
-the confidence course and kayaking.
-the rope on the Commando Course at the start.
-climbing the rope on the team building.
-the tyre wall, getting over it was scary!
-not to talk when we went to bed.
-the climbing wall. I couldn’t do it and then I practised and I was the best at getting over.
-trying to get the tyres over this caged wall.
