Our student service groups play a key role in keeping our school safe, organised and welcoming.
Represents students, organises events, promotes a positive school environment, and works to improve school life. They provide a voice for the student body and help make school a fun and inclusive place.
Our Physical Activity Leaders (PALs) programme empowers students to take on leadership roles while promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles within our school community. PALs are trained students who organise fun and inclusive games, activities, and events, encouraging their peers to stay active and engaged. By becoming PALs, students develop valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership, while fostering a positive and active school environment. Through this initiative, we aim to inspire everyone to enjoy the benefits of movement and make fitness a fun part of their daily routine!
Our Sports Shed Monitors play a key role in maintaining an organised and accessible sports equipment shed for the entire school. These responsible students are entrusted with the task of managing and distributing sports equipment, ensuring everything is in good condition and available for students to use during physical activities at lunchtime. By becoming a Sports Shed Monitor, students develop important organisational skills, responsibility, and teamwork, all while contributing to a positive and active school environment. Their efforts help keep our sports programmes running smoothly and ensure that everyone has the equipment they need to stay active and have fun!
Our student librarians play an important role in helping to keep the library organised, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone. Working together to provide an inviting space where all our students are able to come and read the many pukapuka available to themselves, or one another.
Ensures student safety at our pedestrian crossing before and after school by directing pedestrians and traffic. They help create a safe and orderly environment for everyone on their way to and from school.
Help set up, serve, and clean up breakfast, ensuring students start their day with a nutritious meal. They also assist younger students and promote a positive, friendly atmosphere in the morning.
The health and safety representatives are divided into four groups and undertake grounds and equipment checks in these four areas - courts, fields, area in front of Rooms 9/10/11 and library, area in front of Rooms 6/7/8 and behind Rooms 3/4/5. Checks are undertaken each week, although each student only undertakes a check fortnightly as they are split into odd and even weeks within their groups. Students note hazards and graffiti and pick up rubbish and broken equipment. The checks are discussed fortnightly in the staff health and safety meeting and any actions required are given to the caretaker.
Assist younger students on the bus, encourage safe behaviour, and report concerns to staff. Their presence helps ensure a smooth and respectful ride for all students.
These leadership roles foster responsibility and teamwork while making our school a better place for everyone!
