Kia ora, dobro došli, hola, kon’nichiwa, welkom and welcome to Ahipara School.
We are blessed to be located in a rich environment with our maunga (mountain), awa (river), and oneroa (beach) surrounding our school so we get to learn outside the classroom often.
We promote our values; TiRAMa (which means to shine) and the letters represent tikanga, respect, aumangea (perseverence), and manaakitanga in everything we do and students are awarded 'Snapped Ya' certificates and prizes when they are caught showing one or more of these values.
High expectations are important in our kura; in both behaviour and achievement. We value success in all talent areas; academic, sport, the arts and Te Reo Māori.
Student leadership is prominent with a tuakana teina relationship where seniors are looking out for our juniors both in class with buddy reading and out of class in choosing activities to do at lunchtime.
We have a strong whānau group competition where students get points for everything they participate in as well as attendance over 90%. Students with 100% attendance in a term are treated to "lunch with the principal" to acknowledge their commitment.
I am honoured to lead the staff and tamariki in the best school in Te Hiku o Te Ika.
Ngā mihi nui
Andrea Panther
